I work with women who want to lead their family out of a crisis - brought about by their partner being subject of a criminal investigation in the present or past - with their heads held high and their hearts and arms wide open, a beacon of strength and hope and a cherished member of their community.

I have seen the long-term repercussions that trying to deal with social stigma and shame from an isolated and fear-based place can have on a family and the well-being of the individual. It doesn’t have to be this way. A crisis can be used as an opportunity to change course and strengthen foundations, to re-invent ourselves and to (re-)discover what’s really within us.

For me, justice is not about punishment, but about restoration and prevention of future harm. I want to prevent the justice system from creating further victims, i.e victimising the families of those accused of a crime.

I believe that the goal of justice should not be to make someone worse off, but to ensure that people are able to give their best selves to the world and to positively impact themselves, their families, their community, and the world at large.
